After countless hours of hard work, the Super Duper Pipe is now open! It is not the best day for boosting out of the half pipe because it has not stopped snowing, but we do have a 22’ pipe up and able to be ridden. The snow does not seem to want to stop coming so the future is looking quite white with more pristine powder and plenty of huge slashes to be thrown. The wind does not seem to be blowing very strongly today so tomorrow morning will be wonderful. What a great way to spend Presidents weekend! Hope everyone got to enjoy the fresh snow. And plan another trip up because we are expecting even more snow.

The snow has not let up in the last 24 hours. So far we have received 15″ of new snowfall. We are still diligently working to get the Super Duper Pipe open by Sunday, given all the new snow that keeps accumulating. Since it has been snowing so much, it has been impossible to make any new additions to the parks. The Adventure zones, on the other hand, are so fun during powder days, so go experience Twilight Zone, Woolly’s Woods, Alligator Pit or Voodoo Chute. Wind your way around in the trees and enjoy the little jibs and natural jumps that these zones have to offer.
Next weekend will start the third and final stop of the Dew Tour at Northstar at Tahoe. There will be many local athletes competing in this contest so if you can make it to Tahoe please go cheer them on.
On a more local note, next Saturday, for the second year in a row, Mammoth Mountain will be hosting the Nikita Chickita. This is an all female competition that is geared towards promoting amateur girls snowboarding. Any girl that wants to show her stuff, can sign up for this event.
On Sunday we will be hosting a USASA slopestyle competition in South Park.

The sun has broken through a little the last couple of days, but has since gone away again. It is dumping snow here at Main Lodge. That means the snow is going to be great for the holiday weekend. The road conditions all the way up Highway 395 are in excellent condition. Just remember to come in a 4wd vehicle or carry chains cause once you get to Mammoth you are going to need them. But if you don’t want to carry them up here there are always guys on the side of the road that are trained and experienced chainers. You have the time off already, so come take advantage of the Stimulus packages that Mammoth Mountain is offering.
There are no events scheduled for the weekend so come out and practice. The Super Duper Pipe is going to be complete on Sunday. This is one of only a handful in North America that actually has 22′ walls. Mammoth has the more snow than one could possibly need to have a fantastic day.
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so treat your sweetheart to a winter wonderland vacation full of powder turns, hot chocolate, and cuddling next a cozy fireplace.

Well it is really hard to hit 85ft jumps when there is two feet of fresh powder on the landings and the takeoffs. The snow has come and is not showing signs of leaving. It looks as though February is going to be filled with snow. Get out there and make some slashes. Dress warm, it is a bit cold out.
Congrats to all the winners of yesterdays USASA Boardercross race! Even through the wind and the snow these athletes stayed competitive! They might not have been as fast as they wanted to be but all in all the race went fabulous.

smile its snowing
It has been snowing for almost 24 hours and the snow is so light and fabulous. It is suppose to continue until Sunday so another blue bird Monday is in store for us. It seems as though as soon as the crew gets everything set up and build up the snow begins to fly again. Pete Colombo rebuilt the Showtime jump at the bottom of Main Park on Monday night. It is now 70ft to the knuckle. No one will be hitting it today due to the snow, but I have seen people sending it the last couple days. Day one of this jump, one of our local riders, Alex Dawoud, was the first one that I saw hit it cleanly. He started first run with a straight air to check it out then the next run, it was on. He showed us his go to, backside five, and went huge! He always puts on a show and demonstrates how things should be done. His little brother Jared normally is right there too, but he had a bit of an accident the other day. He should be out on the snow soon, as though no time has gone by. Jared get better quick buddy, I miss watching you!
The event that is scheduled for this weekend is on for now. It just depends on how much snow comes down from the skies. Boardercross will not be much of a race, if it is run in two feet of powder. Check back and I will let you know if we are going to still hold the event.
Everyone that is a Shiny Toy Gun fan should buy tickets quickly for their show Tuesday night at Canyon Lodge! It is going to be a fantastic show. I can wait!
More, later… Enjoy the snow!!!!!

Ever since the snow stopped falling last Tuesday, the sun has been shining! Today is another beautiful day to be in the parks. The crowds are gone and the next three days are promising much more fun in the sun. Thursday, the sun is going to let the snow fall again for another three days. Main Park is geared up and ready to be sessioned. The Red Bull Wall Ride is set up at the Mid Shack so all eyes are on you. The Jump Line in South has been built up a little so it is ready for those of you that are feeling gutsy. Jibs Galore has plenty of features, to twist and turn on and off including the Quiksilver pyramid set up on its side. So show the crew what you got!
The USASA Events went well this weekend. Thanks to all the competitors for making it so successful and a special thanks to the crew for all your help making sure everything went smoothly.
There is one wall almost complete on the Super Duper pipe and the crew is outside right now chain sawing it to make it look fresh. The Pipe Master will be working all week, so keep your eyes focused on the progress of his creation. This 22′ Half Pipe should be finished the week before the Dew Tour takes place in Northstar. So look for the Mammoth Team riders sessioning the pipe in order to get geared up for the competition. There are only a handful of 22′ pipes built in North America, and we will have one of them.
Look at this Mammoth riders flying high over Middle Jump and Bottom jump.

Wake up and get up here! It is a gorgeous day on Mammoth Mountain. After three consecutive days of snowfall, the sun is out and the powder is really to be slayed. The parks are in reconstruction mode but tomorrow will be epic! So go on and blast yourself in the face with powder.
Congrats to our team rider, Mason Aguirre, for making the finals in Superpipe at the X Games. He finished fifth overall. Personally he should have probably scored higher, but in a sport that is judged there are so many factors that persuade the opinions of the ones judging, no one never knows what could happen. All the Athletes that competed did a great job! I was bummed though that I didn’t get to see all of the athlete’s runs. If only ABC would show more athletes and not the same commercials over and over again.
On a sad note, The Vans Cup has been cancelled here at Mammoth. Vans is being affected by the recession just as much as everyone else and unfortunately that means cutting back on sponsoring events. Hopefully things will pick up for the economy so that things will start moving forward.
Have a wonderful beginning of the week, and I look forward to watching huge pow slashes.

Due to the weather conditions, the USASA Slopestyle competitions that were scheduled for the weekend have bee postponed. The snowfall is supposed to continue through the weekend and therefore it would make it extremely difficult for the competition to be held at either resort. I will keep you posted on the exact dates that the competitions will be held. Have an amazing time playing around in all the fresh snow!
January 22nd, 2009
It started late yesterday afternoon and as the temperatures dropped the rain turned to snow. It is very wet snow but it is snow! As we locals like to call it “sierra cement.” This will give us a covering that will help make the pipe a little easier to build and the jumps a little bigger. The parks have all been so amazing and the weather has just made them even more fun. The Unbound cat crew has been doing a wonderful job of building all of the parks and keeping them exciting. As the day crew Everyday there are new features to play on and experiment with.
Today is the first day of Winter X-Games 13 in Aspen Colorado. A handful of our Mammoth riders are there to throw it down. Kristi Leskinen, our one female skier, will be competing in the slope style competition. Tara Dakidas will be shredding Boarder X. Mason Aguirre will be showing off his skills in both the half pipe and the slope style. Danny Kass and Gregory Bretz will be inventing and reinventing the trickiest of tricks in the half pipe. So please root them on!! I have so much confidence in all of our athletes, and I can’t wait for them to come out firing.
On a local note, Mammoth will be hosting the Vans Unbound series Slopestyle event on Saturday and followed up by another Slopestyle event on Sunday at June Mountain. This contest will also be a qualifier for the little guys and gals to get into the Grom Fest. All athletes that compete in these events are trying to qualify themselves for a trip to the USASA Nationals April 5th -11th at Copper Mountain, Colorado.

So Friday will be the day that Wonderland Park will be opening. There will be small jumps, small jibs, rollers and a ten foot Half Pipe. Thank you to all the people you came out to watch the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam. Congrats to all the Mammoth Locals who competed. Special Thanks to the crew for working hard to make sure everything was perfect for the contest. Way to go Eric Meyers! Hopefully we see everyone again at the end of April for the PB&R Championships that are going to be held here in Mammoth.
Since it has been beautiful out, there has been plenty of pictures being taken. Adam and Greg have been out everyday filming for the Mammoth movie and all of our riders are pumped. Mark, Eric, and Nico are compiling tricks for M.A. Tricks Volume two. MArk Ass Tricks volume one can be watched on the Fuel Tv Website. ,
The Dew Tour starts today in Vermont. Tyler Flanagan and Greg Bretz are both there riding for Mammoth so cheer them on.
This Saturday will be our first Half Pipe contest of the year so if you want to participate become a USASA member and we will see you at registration in Roma’s room Saturday morning.
Alsoa huge shout out to Mammoth for scoring another amazing skier for our Team. Pep Fujas recently signed a partnership with Mammoth Mountain and we are all so excited to have him!
