Pipe Rebuild

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

It’s another gorgeous day here at Mammoth Mountain, sunny skies and no wind have brought out all the jumpers and jibbers in all the parks. South Park’s hip has been reshaped to perfection overnight, so go big and see if you can impress some spring breakers. Over in Main Park, the Superpipe has been shut down as master of all things vert, Danny Rossier, has started the process of rebuilding the stunt ditch. Expect a reopening just in time for the Roxy Chicken Jam next weekend. The ladies take over the park on Friday and will be slashing pipe and an exclusive slopestyle course all weekend long.

Beers and Boxes

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Cruising through Unbound’s main park today you may have noticed a special set up right in front of the main lodge Sundeck. Big contest today? No. Super exclusive photo shoot? Not today. This box and rail combo was set up just for you spring breakers, conveniently located next to the place where they serve up all the liquid courage. The minors were there too, impressing the Sundeck crowd all day long, and some of the older spring breakers convinced themselves to try the features out by the end of the day as well. Sounds fun right? Lucky for you we’re doing it all over again next Wednesday, March 26.

Spring Break

Monday, March 17th, 2008

blog-061.jpg

Well the skies have cleared and spring break has officially kicked off here in the Unbound. Despite all the recent snowfall, the parks are 100% open today and all the features are groomed to perfection. Wonderland’s mini halfpipe is completely rebuilt and opened up just in time for all the groms looking for a fun way to start their recess. For the more advanced riders, there are a handful of new rail features in Main Park, including a lift tower, a new down rail and a new flat rail. As always the bottom jump is already going off this morning, so swing by and check out the style lessons given out by our local riders every lap. You can even watch from the sundeck, which I’m sure will be a hot spot all week long with all the college students in town.

Snowy Sunday

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Not too much going on in the parks today. The clouds are still hovering over us, dropping a decent amount of real good, light snow. Today is a perfect day to hit the trees or even build your own jump as there is fresh snow and barely any wind at all.
Since a lot of people on the message boards have been asking, here is a look ahead at the coming week in case you’re planning a trip. Temps are forecasted right around 50 for the week, so you can expect Mammoth’s typical bluebird skies. South Park is dialed right now, the jump line is flowing really well, and the rail run is fully stocked with a variety of jibs. Main Park is also packed full of huge jumps and challenging rails, not to mention the perfectly sculpted halfpipes. Both parks even have new rail features that were added overnight despite the stormy conditions. Basically, late March is the perfect time for a trip here because the weather looks like it’ll be warm without getting too hot, so sweet talk your buddy with the car and hit 395 for some sunny shred days.

Guest Blogger Extraordinaire Eric Meyers finding some turns

Greetings everyone! In order to brighten up this dreary weekend we have brought in Unbound Day Staffer Eric Meyers as a special guest blogger. The mountain got some snow and wind overnight, leaving stashes of pow hidden in all the usual places. Once the storm clears out early next week be sure to head back into the parks and check out some of our newest features. Main Park has a fresh 22- foot quarter pipe located below the Super- Duper Pipe and South Park’s jump line has been getting sessioned hard by all the locals lately. Also look for some new features in Jibs Galore, located next to South Park at Chair Four. For the mini- shreds, halfpipe master Danny Rossier has been diligently rebuilding the twelve foot tall pipe over at chair seven’s Wonderland Park and we’re expecting a grand Re- Opening early next week.

What a nice day….
