Gearing up for Red Bull Snow Warz

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Today is a little crowded at chair six. Southpark is closed due to a major rebuild. We are getting all set up for Red Bull Snow Warz. This is a college event in which schools from all over the west coast come out to compete in a slopestyle competition. Please come out and cheer on these college kids tomorrow, who knows, maybe some will impress you. Also Red Bull is hosting a free party after the award ceremony tomorrow night at Canyon Lodge. There is going to be a Dj so after shredding the hill all day you can cut up the dance floor. Enjoy today Friday the 13th……

Super Duper Is Open

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

After countless hours of hard work, the Super Duper Pipe is now open! It is not the best day for boosting out of the half pipe because it has not stopped snowing, but we do have a 22’ pipe up and able to be ridden. The snow does not seem to want to stop coming so the future is looking quite white with more pristine powder and plenty of huge slashes to be thrown. The wind does not seem to be blowing very strongly today so tomorrow morning will be wonderful. What a great way to spend Presidents weekend! Hope everyone got to enjoy the fresh snow. And plan another trip up because we are expecting even more snow.

Bluebird Monday

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Wake up and get up here! It is a gorgeous day on Mammoth Mountain. After three consecutive days of snowfall, the sun is out and the powder is really to be slayed. The parks are in reconstruction mode but tomorrow will be epic! So go on and blast yourself in the face with powder.
Congrats to our team rider, Mason Aguirre, for making the finals in Superpipe at the X Games. He finished fifth overall. Personally he should have probably scored higher, but in a sport that is judged there are so many factors that persuade the opinions of the ones judging, no one never knows what could happen. All the Athletes that competed did a great job! I was bummed though that I didn’t get to see all of the athlete’s runs. If only ABC would show more athletes and not the same commercials over and over again.
On a sad note, The Vans Cup has been cancelled here at Mammoth. Vans is being affected by the recession just as much as everyone else and unfortunately that means cutting back on sponsoring events. Hopefully things will pick up for the economy so that things will start moving forward.
Have a wonderful beginning of the week, and I look forward to watching huge pow slashes.

Wonderland

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

So Friday will be the day that Wonderland Park will be opening. There will be small jumps, small jibs, rollers and a ten foot Half Pipe. Thank you to all the people you came out to watch the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam. Congrats to all the Mammoth Locals who competed. Special Thanks to the crew for working hard to make sure everything was perfect for the contest. Way to go Eric Meyers! Hopefully we see everyone again at the end of April for the PB&R Championships that are going to be held here in Mammoth.
Since it has been beautiful out, there has been plenty of pictures being taken. Adam and Greg have been out everyday filming for the Mammoth movie and all of our riders are pumped. Mark, Eric, and Nico are compiling tricks for M.A. Tricks Volume two. MArk Ass Tricks volume one can be watched on the Fuel Tv Website. ,
The Dew Tour starts today in Vermont. Tyler Flanagan and Greg Bretz are both there riding for Mammoth so cheer them on.
This Saturday will be our first Half Pipe contest of the year so if you want to participate become a USASA member and we will see you at registration in Roma’s room Saturday morning.
Alsoa huge shout out to Mammoth for scoring another amazing skier for our Team. Pep Fujas recently signed a partnership with Mammoth Mountain and we are all so excited to have him!

Snow And Shovels

Monday, December 15th, 2008

The snow has not let up since it started Saturday morning. With 20″ of new snow, the Unbound crew has not stopped shoveling out our features. Today is not the day to be in the park; yet, it makes for an optimistic future, more snow for the super pipe and more raw material for the production of massive jumps. Hope everyone is enjoying the pow turns. Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed in the Grand Prix at Copper! Good Luck at the Dew Tour!

Snowing, Snowing, the wind in blowing

Even when chairs cant run our guys are out there

Even when chairs cant run our guys are out there

Looking outside the office, I am only able to see the neon orange flag from the snowmobile blowing in the wind. It is a whiteout here in Mammoth and we are loving every minute of it. The forecast for the week says snow snow snow! That means more snow for the halfpipe and bigger jumps, and maybe Southpark… lets keep our fingers crossed and keep doing the snow dance.

Wednesday 4-16-2008

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Not too sure what the occasion was yesterday, but there were a couple people dressed up for spring time shredding. This guy wore a wetsuit. Maybe the most creative snowboarding attire i have seen yet.

If this happens to be you, let me know how this worked out.

Good Morning

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Today has to be one of the nicest days we have had in at least a month. The teperature outside is perfect, and I can’t see anything moving from a breeze anywhere, this is great news, ok maybe I just saw a flag move, but this is Mammoth, we always have a slight breeze.

Middle jump is built up and looking humungous as usual, thanks to Lead Operator Pete Colombo. If you havent had a fun day snowboarding in a while, i strongly suggest going today, there is no better day than a sunny day snowboarding at Mammoth. All, but 2 chairs are open today, so you can go ride the whole mountain, top to bottom, side to side, back to front.

I’ll get some pictures up here in a little bit, so you can see whats going on up here.

oh yeah, you can check our webcams on MammothMountain.com

How beautiful is it outside!!??!!

So, the weekend is finally over, and all our friends are gone, town is quite, and calm. Ahh, I love this place! The weekdays are so perfect in Mammoth, lift lines are casual, people seem freindlier, and even the parking is better. Everyday is still heavenly whether it is a weekend or a weekday. Every single morning on my drive up to work, I think about how lucky I am to live in this place!

What’s your favorite thing about Mammoth?

Monday, Monday, so good to me
Monday mornin’, it was all I hoped it would be
